A New Day


It’s easy when you are a parent to get caught up in the past. We focus on all of our mistakes and shortcomings instead of the things we are doing well. We think if I had just been there more, if I just hadn’t yelled at them so much today.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Every day in the Lord is a new day. It is a chance to start over to try again and dust ourselves off. All we can do is learn from our parenting mistakes and ask the Lord to forgive us and to help us to be more like him.

There is freedom in the Lord.

When we allow ourselves to get sucked into our failures we prevent ourselves from being the best parent God wants us to be.

Don’t be so consumed with self-loathing that your child is no longer the focus. Your children look up to you, they see everything you do and they understand more than you think.

Let your children see you turn to the Lord, this will teach them that no matter how hard things get or what they are struggling with they can overcome anything in Christ.

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)

His Mercy and Grace is new everyday. Will you receive it today?

    That is so true. I couldn’t make it every day if I didn’t have Grace from my savior. And forgiveness for all my mistakes as a parent. Thank you Christine for reminding me. Every day is new.
