A Sense of Belonging

Having a sense of belonging is a basic human need. We all need to feel like we belong. Children are no exception. Let me ask you one question though…. who do your children belong to?

If your answer was you, you would be like most parents. I have news for you, your children do not belong to you. That’s right, you do not have ownership of them.

What if I told you that you were just a babysitter? Often as parents we have a sense of ownership over our children. After all it is easy to do when we are constantly caring for them. We take them to school, discipline them and care for their basic needs.

Your children belong to the Lord. You are the babysitter whom He has chosen for temporary guardianship.

When you think of your child this way we see them in a new light. My child belongs to Christ, and your child belongs to Christ. A child needs to feel a sense of belonging. Not just a sense of belonging in your own home but they need to feel a sense of belonging in God’s home. Show your child that you love them and show them that God loves them more.

How are you treating God’s child?

Be the best Babysitter you can be.
